Voodoo Vibes

To help you stay informed and give you an edge next time you participate in a Geeks Who Drink Trivia night, here is some trivia about voodoo, an intriguing story element in New Dominion.

  • Voodoo is actually a religion and not an evil one, practice by over 4 million believers.

  • It originated from Africa and was brought to the Americas with the slave trade. It was particularly popular in Haiti and spread from there, even infusing into many Christian influences in some places.

  • Spirits are invited to “ride” people into the living world as a way to contact the living. This usually manifests as some crazy dancing or gyrating or even seizure type movements.

  • Voodoo dolls that are made by the voodooist are the most powerful. They are made with things that conserve the vibrations of the person represented such as personal items and clothing that will serve to cover the doll. The interior can be made of wax, butter, paper, bread dough, balsamic herbs, and in it you can stick pieces of nail, hair, skin ..etc.. These dolls can be used in healing or casting negative spells on an individual.

  • In voodoo ceremonies,  worshippers often decorate their bodies with different substances, ranging from nzu, powder, tiro, oil, lalle, etc. The voodoo ritual powder are used in spells to cure ailments and in traditional rituals.
